Double Bass Drumming

Double bass drumming is usually associated with hard rock and heavy metal music, but that is not always the case. It can be used effectively in many other styles as well. If you know how to use it correctly, it can add a lot of variety to any beat.

Is it difficult to learn? It is more of an advanced concept, so don't get discouraged too soon. Take your time and start slowly. But it isn’t as difficult as it may first appear. It just takes a little time to getting used to. Muscle development and foot coordination is not something that is achieved overnight.

Double bass drumming allows you to spice up your grooves and is definitely a great thing to have in your drumming arsenal.

When playing drums, it's important to sit up straight and in balance. It's crucial to develop the basic double bass techniques the right way from the beginning, so that you don't pick up any bad habits which can be sometimes quite difficult to unlearn. Remember, practice makes perfect.
